Texas megachurch pastor and Trump ex-spiritual adviser accused of sexual abuse

A Texas megachurch pastor has admitted previously having “inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady” after being accused of repeatedly molesting a family friend starting when she was just 12.

Robert Morris, the founder of Gateway Church in Southlake and a one-time spiritual adviser for Donald Trump, confessed after Cindy Clemishire told the Wartburg Watch that she was allegedly groomed for abuse that continued for four years until she was 16.

“When I was in my early twenties, I was involved in inappropriate sexual behavior with a young lady in a home where I was staying,” he told the Christian Post, a dismissive description that “appalled” his accuser.

He's my Pastor and this makes me incredibly sad. it wasn't an inappropriate relationship, it was se*ual abuse and a crime. the church can't just decide they can deal with crimes internally...when I was 11 yo a man in the church shared his story - he r*ped a woman and one year later he became a Christian. Not even a month later he turned himself in, confessed to the r*pe and served 7 years in San Quentin. That's what repentance looks like. Christianity isnt a free pass. The standards higher NOT lower & when that man says he's never offended again, I believe him.

If the church is non-denominational, the Pastor (and his family) OWN it. "Resign" just means he won't be preaching every Sunday. As the owner, money will NEVER stop flowing into his pockets - until he dies. OWNership provides for this BUSINESS to receive a religious tax exemption; tithes and offerings become property of the owner; sons and family members thru the generations will inherit the title of pastor, thus continuing the grift; being non-denominational, theological Seminary degrees are not required; there is NEVER a Denomination Church Board or Presbytery that oversees or restricts the Pastor's smallest whim; deacons are chosen for their loyalty to the pastor.

I support Pastor Morris on this one .I am not condoning his behaviour nor approving of it either .However one thing which many Mud slingers don´t understand is that this incident happened back in the 80s, and if no legal action was taken back in the 80s then i think it is inappropriate for so many psuedo-christians to be harassing him today . the worst part it seems that this girl who is now a Woman is looking for a financial payback $$ which is very immature of her to do .
