This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2022 Lexus RX450h mid-size luxury hybrid SUV.We are test-driving the RX 450h Executive model with a 3.5L V6 engine matched to an ECVT with Lexus Hybrid Drive. It has a combined 308 horsepower and comes standard with AWD. This Hybrid is made in Canada. This RX 450h offers an elegant exterior design with a bold spindle grille, which we expect from Lexus and sharp lines. It comes standard with a moonroof, LED headlights, LED taillights and 18” wheels, 20” are available. In Canada, the panoramic sunroof and power rear door with kick sensor are available on the Executive trim. In the US, there are packages but also a la carte items, you can add the panoramic sunroof for $1,850 US and the power rear door with kick sensor for $150 US. Lexus says the RX is designed with purpose. The side grilles above the fog lights are shaped for better aerodynamics and there’s a character line that runs from the front to the rear that is supposed to create an arrow-like profile and a flowing roofline to reduce drag and reduce noise in the cabin. The RX 450h gets excellent fuel economy at 7.5L/100km, 31 MPG in the city and 8.4L/100km, 28 MPG on the highway. This Hybrid can tow up to 3500 pounds and Lexus offers a warranty of 4 years or 80,000 km/50,000 miles.

At Canada Drives you can buy your car 100% online and have it delivered straight to your doorstep. Once delivered, you have a full 7 days to love it or return it.

Congratulations, Zack! You're the first reviewer that actually knows why the CD player is in a high-end audio unit like Mark Levinson . . big, beautiful, UNCOMPRESSED music. Its been so frustrating, having to listen to the knuckle-dragging comments from other reviewers about the only people who care about CDs are just wanting to listen to old hair-metal bands while combing their mullets. Until uncompressed audio files are widely used, CDs are the best audio format for people who care about quality audio. Don't argue with Mark Levinson, folks.

Bought a 2022 450h in Nov. Lifelong Ford owner, love the luxury and the turn in and steering is so smooth it’s awesome. This might be my last new vehicle

V6 is always a V6, sounds so much better and is way more smooth than a 4 cylinder.

The Lexus RX is popular for a reason. I love the colour combination on your test vehicle. I think Lexus’s biggest challenge will be to recapture (capitalize) their original customers, who are less tech savvy and yearn for vehicles with more traditional controls and design. Their original clients were older and made safer investments with their (retirement) savings. The stats from Carmax 2018 suggests that they rank 3rd (at 44.8) for oldest average owner base, only Buick and Cadillac were older. Stats by IHS Global insight from a few years earlier (2009) had them in 2nd at 56! (Buick was approaching 70). Lexus is losing those older people wanting to upgrade from their relatively simple Camry/Avalon... which maybe other brands may capitalize on The trackpad on the RX is one of the reasons my Mother will not buy a Lexus (originally, that haptic feedback mouse) and went to Subaru. That and the over the top styling. I like the RX, I just don’t prefer hybrids (as more of my drives are distance, than are inner city), especially at nearly $75, 000! Thanks for the video.

Had a 2018 450hL... wife LOVED it. Was impressed by almost everything except the sound of the gas engine (actually I think it was a vibration in the exhaust... dealer never figured it out). Decided to sell it at the beginning of the pandemic as we had 4 cars in the driveway and only one was actually useful... the RX was the newer one with the most value, so it was sacrificed "for the time being". Been 2 years and we still miss it. Let's hope the next electric RX be even better than this one is.

I bought a 2016 base model. It was used with 58, 000km's ($37, 900 Canadian). Traded in my 2012 CX5 and they gave me $11, 500. What a great deal! Well, the difference is huge. Love the smooth V6, and it's pretty good on gas for highway driving - 10L/100km in mountainous terrain. The base model has a lot of goodies to play with - enough for me anyway. The one feature I really like is homelink. No more fishing around for the gate remote. Silly, but I really like it. And ventilated front seats. I usually keep it in eco mode, and it cruises along just fine. Once in a while, throw it into Sport. Changes the gear ratio's, so burns a wee bit more gas. The only negative I can find is the city mileage isn't very good. I get around 15L/100KM, but I live in a hilly area, so you burn more gas. But, I don't do very much city driving, so it doesn't matter. All in all, a great car! Will buy either the 2022 for the V6, or the new model with the 2.5L Turbo. Will have to test drive it first though. Or, might just keep my 2016!

When compared to the competition, the folks who buy the RX don’t care much about cargo space as they tend to be the “older crowd” what they care more about is the known luxurious Lexus ride!

I love the exterior/interior colour combination. Wish we could have got the combo with our 2021 Venza. You recently did a similar colour combo with the Forester. Hope green exterior and tan interiors are getting more popular. I'm so tired of black, white and grey being virtually the only colours on the street. We were at least able to get a dark blue exterior and grey interior with the Venza.

I have a 2015 450h and love it. If I had to buy a new vehicle tomorrow, it would probably be another 450h.

I have a 22 Lexus RXF sport and so glad that I purchased it because the 23 models are all four-cylinder. This is a six cylinder hybrid and I don’t find that you need the trackpad to change stations. You can just do it by voice.

Interesting that you hate the track pad. I love it! I have NO problem using it, so I can’t understand the haters’ problem with it. I have the 2022 RX450H F Sport and am thoroughly enjoying it. I love that it has the 6 cylinder gas engine rather than the little 4 banger that the 2023 RX line has. My opinion is that Lexus took a step backward with the decision to offer only 4 cylinder models in the RX. It is the same engine that is in the newly designed NX. The RX is bigger and heavier than the NX. Makes no sense to eliminate the 6 cylinder for the RX. Just my personal opinion and choice.

I own a lexus GS350 fsport and I had to get it serviced. I had a chance to drive The RX350 and a 2021 NX. The one thing I noticed is that the RX even though luxurious was like driving a bus. The NX felt more fun to drive and nimble and this was the old nx mind you. I love my GS which is a combination of performance and luxury. My personal preference is, I don't like a truck too large of a vehicle feeling. I want a hybrid, nimbleness, refinement all in one package, thats why I would choose the new NX hybrid only because I already have the GS. If I didn't, then I would have to think about it.

My 2010 RX350 is five inches shorter than the fourth-Gen 2016-2022 RX, and the cargo area in my RX feels as spacious or possibly even bigger. The load height is also lower in my RX than the current one! As much as I have liked the look of the fourth Gen RX, when it comes to SUVs, I don’t really like if they’re longer than 188 inches. Maybe that’s just me. And, yes, I love the zen feel when I’m driving my RX, I’ve had it since brand new, so 11 years, and it’s so nice to take on a road trip! Also, remember, the RX has always been considered a midsized SUV and, of course, the NX is a compact SUV

Those boys and girls in Cambridge do a bang up job building these machines. Any wonder that plant has won multiple JD Power awards. Great review on a great vehicle. Can’t wait for new model in second half of 22.

Appreciate your reviews. Maybe as a couple reviewing could you share more about space and connections for teens or spacing for car seats? Like a “day in the life” family ownership? Thanks!

Hello Andrea and Zach took your advice. Was going to buy the nx350j luxury. The base rx is 2k more and you get that much more car. Canceled the order and went with the rx. No brainer can live with the track pad.
