Here’s a cover of one of my favorite songs by Norman Blake…and of course covered on the legendary Tony Rice album of the same name. Here’s a rough backstage version of “Church Street Blues”.

We are having a blast on this run of shows opening for the incredible Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. As I post this, we are about to go on in Louisville. Hope to see y’all in your town soon! Thanks for watching!

The guitar is a Pre-War Co. 12 fret 28 style (old growth Indian rosewood back and sides). D’Addario Nickel Bronze Strings (medium gauge) and a BlueChip TAD60 pick.

the timbre of your voice is what seals this.

Beg to differ with the description, brother. That ain't no 'rough backstage version'. You could release that right now, as is! Seriously, best I ever heard, and not trying to commit sacrilege here, but I have heard Norman and Tony. You got a resonance and a reality to your tone, a real force and hard edge to it that's pleasing to the ear. It's genuine, without trying to be. Dang.

It's hard to take a classic and make it your own. This is the real deal.

There are are so many who have covered this song, but i think this is the best...Its so clean, the tone is great and the singing is so smooth and tasteful.

Wow, what an incredible performance! Your rendition of this beautiful piece is absolutely stunning. The way you made that old guitar sing truly did justice to Tony's masterful style. I was genuinely moved by your playing and singing; it brought out all the emotions that make this song so special. It's clear you have a deep respect and understanding of Tony's music, and your interpretation honors his legacy beautifully. I'm sure Tony is somewhere watching this and cracking that same subtle smile he does in that classic video from "An Intimate Lesson With Tony Rice." Thank you for sharing your talent with us!

There are few who could cover a song Tony Rice recorded and do it justice.
Justice has been served!

Brother... Your playing is so sick... and your singing is so good. One wouldn't expect that to be possible.

Tony Rice is really hard to follow with his timing being so strange. You killed it

You knocked it out of the park with this classic!
I urge anyone who hasn't seen Rob and Trey live to do so. You will be blown away.

Awesome job. You have a very distinct bluegrass tone in your voice that's perfect for this song. This is one of my favorite Tony Rice songs. He would be very happy to hear you singing and playing.
