Did you repeat your words in the first two minutes on accident or was that breaking the fifth wall?

Did Jared just spend 5 minutes saying "Deadpool is not fresh anymore, so its fourth wall breaks aren less fun" by repeating himself and giving examples that prove nothing?

Yeah, I felt the same. It was a one time watch for me for this reason

I feel that 5th wall proposition is the lazy one. A cycle of break/aknowledge/break...
On the other hand i think the subversion of DP2 is that postcredit sequence when he breaks the movie. It becomes utterly meaningless and the jokes on Reynolds career are a plus (although it would have been amazing i he would go back even further to the Blade Trinity days XD)

So deadpool should ve aware that the movie is self-aware?
Should he sabotage his movie about himself sabotaging the movie?

I guess he could rip the screen open and go on making his own plot, completely discarding the story that was being told. I'm not sure if that could work out.
And the postcredits scene kinda counts as breaking the fifth wall? He even kills reynolds...
But this is pointless. It's a paradox. No matter how subersive deadpool gets, it will always be in character. It will always be something we expect from him. If you want to keep breaking walls you probably would end up breaking reality itself.

They should hire Charlie Kaufman as a writer, to break all the walls, Synecdoche New York style.

Great commentary.. Yea, there were hundreds of comics where he broke the 4th wall and only one deadpool movie. For deadpool to ignore 4th wall breaks would be ignoring the character. I like the idea of a recursive 4th wall break.

I've seen it three times now and just finally got the Colossus friendship/hard joke. All three times, I've laughed so hard that I was coughing and having trouble breathing. On the third viewing, I didn't cry tho. I cried the first two times. And oddly, at one point I was both crying from sadness and laughing hard from the jokes at the same time. I don't think I've had that ever happen before. And I also laughed both from the jokes and with pure joy. Very distinct types of laughter. So, Very interesting film.

I probably have another viewing of A:IW (#6) coming up and I'm also really interested in "Upgrade". Some of the few reviewers I trust say it's really good and it may not be in theaters long due to a tiny marketing budget.

One thing I didn't like was how much they cut Negasonic's lines. I think the movie spent too much time on Deadpool and that's probably because he was one of the writers. They nailed it with Cable and Collossus (and the big villain--not gonna spoil it) but there were easily 3-5 minutes of Deadpool time that could have gone to Negasonic that would have strengthened the movie. I'm a fan and I think she has a lot of fans. That actress has star quality/screen presence. They should use it.

Does Deadpool have to develop in his upcoming feature films? He should!

But I mean, has he ever done that in any other form of media where he's featured? I talked about the movie with a friend a few days ago and he mentioned he played the game, Deadpool, on his PC. He said that the aesthetics and persona of the character where nailed perfectly but that gameplay and other aspects of the game where just poor or mediocre.

That meant for me that Deadpool as a character has been utterly reliant on this part of him that makes him cynical and able to break the fourth wall every once in a while, and that that is his quintessential tool for engaging his audience, and that writers abusing that might not be that uncommon.

I think it depends on whether the people handling him through a piece of narrative know how to make the best out of his aesthetic or not, and helping a character such as him develop into a better version of himself might mean sacrificing his goofiness and sassiness in exchange for maturity and that's just not him.

I'm pretty sure Deadpool came out in 2016, not 2015. That being said, every month has been an eternity for the past 18 months or so, so it's a reasonable mistake to make.

In the trealier leazy writing used in a scene different than the movie

I suppose in a way you were correct about what you said in the first philosophy of Deadpool video. And by that I mean the part we’re Deadpool’s cynicism isn’t creating anything new, it’s really just there for a laugh. Only difference is that now it’s lost its effectiveness due to us being used to it.

Your editor didn’t push the video slightly passed the audio, and it’s extremely visually off-putting. It doesn’t sync up with how the ears and eyes actually process information in real-time.

It took you 40 minutes to whine about how it wasn't what you wanted, no one of you read the comic, 2/3s of you didn't even stay for the post credits scene.
You suggested not funny tired trends and wanted more then what this movie was ever going to give.
Basically you set it up to fail by being an idiot who thinks hes smarter than he is.

So, does each new movie have to subvert the previous? That's not really sustainable. I don't think deadpool has to change, but he must at least dig deeper into what was being subverted in the first place. Or pick a new target.

Jared Deadpool braking the 4 wall was already an established asthetics in the comics. It was expected in the movie. This is just a sequel. Sequels are rarely better than the first.

I feel like it's a mistake to escalate it just because it isn't surprising anymore. You'd just go on and on until you're trying to break the 11110th wall and the movie is just a 185 minute monologue about the nature of writing. The comics went a different direction and upped the sincerity. It was actually pretty good. Deadpool doesn't need to be fresh in each new movie because you're never going to unknow that he uses the 4th wall shtick sometimes. It's better to just move on and look for other enjoyable qualities.

Why was your latest 'Rick and Morty' podcast taken down? I was playing it in the background when it suddenly stopped.

I discovered that it was no longer on Youtube for some reason. I'm only curious and will probably not receive an answer.
