Evaluating Algebraic Expressions

I go over how to evaluate algebraic expressions with variables using order of operations! This is one of the first skills students learn in pre-algebra class. Evaluating algebraic expressions is so fundamental to many other skills in algebra. We will dive in to how to substitute values for variables and then use order of operations to solve. Many times, students get confused by the word “evaluate” but once the realize it just means to “find the value” then it seems easy! I will take you through various problems. Some have just one variable, some have two variables or more!

Here are some of the other videos I mentioned that go over skills that you will need to understand and know how to do before you work on evaluating expressions:

Chapters:

0:00 Intro

0:34 Steps

0:47 One variable

1:56 Two variables

2:37 Three variables

3:33 Four variables (all variables)
