For years, Ellen DeGeneres has been a household name from her comedy, to her roles in movies, to finally, a successful TV show. Even after a hard day, you can turn on the TV and find her show waiting to put the smile back on your face with her fun segments, special guests, and quirky social experiments on either the audience or even her own production crew.
So, with someone like Ellen, who has a popular afternoon talk show, who is known to give back to the community with special giveaways and generous donations to a charity, and who is even known to dance a beat with her audiences, you’d think that she wouldn’t be thrown some shade or insulted by a guest on her own show.
Unfortunately, this talk-show diva isn’t free from the occasional jab from some of her guests. You heard right: the queen of funny has faced jabs and insults on her own show.
In today’s video, we’re going into the nitty-gritty by talking about the Top 5 celebrities that had managed to get under Ellen’s skin, despite her usual demeanor of being fun and friendly. Some of these are well… serviceable, to which they didn’t leave a dent on Ellen’s normal laid-back attitude; while others were considered WTF moments for audiences and fans. First up at Number 5 is Sean Hayes
What happens when you sit down with someone who is clearly jealous of you? Well, you get a recipe for who can outwit who.
Also known as “The Battle of the Gays” interview, Ellen sat down with Sean Hayes in one episode. The conversation starts off well, until at some point, they decide to try and one-up each other by poking at each other’s careers. Again, the conversation started out innocently enough, with them cracking one-liners and being careful with what they said; however, this immediately didn’t last, as Sean takes the first shot by insulting Ellen’s ability to transition from question to question.
Okay, Sean. Since when did you start to become Siskel and Ebert?
But that didn’t affect Ellen, since she had returned fire by bringing up the cancellation of Will and Grace, of which Sean had a supporting role as Will’s friend Jack McFarland on the show. Sean tried to one-up Ellen again with a comeback as if to defend his cancelled show, but Ellen proved his match by being well-prepared with her own.
Eventually, the two had ceased fire; and the show went on without a hitch.
Rule-of-thumb: If you want to tango with a talk show host, especially if they’re a comedian, be ready for them to poke fun at you.

Next at Number 4 is Katy Perry
Now, this may have been a flub on Ellen’s part, but the way that Katy had responded to it speaks volumes. This is only a friendly reminder that when you attend someone’s wedding, or give the couple gifts, don’t ever forget about it. And this episode of Ellen is a perfect example of it.
When Ellen sat down with Katy Perry one time on the show, the interview had started like normal, with the two of them smiling and having a good time being there. So far so good, right?
However, Ellen had made the mistake of unintentionally forgetting Katy’s marriage to Russell Brand by asking the pop star if she had ever married. You heard right: Ellen had totally forgotten about Katy’s marriage to the no-filter and comedic actor from movies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall.
When that question was raised Ellen, Katy was shocked and said that she remembered the talk show host giving her wedding gifts for her wedding with Russell.
