The California Dream ain't what it used to be. In this parody of The Beach Boys' "California Girls", The Bee Boys express their yearning to leave the Golden State some day.

Be sure to listen to this song on other platforms:

Lyrics:
Well, SF's packed with feces,
You gotta watch your step up there,
And Los Angeles with all their homeless camps,
The tents and drugs are everywhereIn Napa Newsom drops some
15 thousand bucks on wine
But in the rest of the state with all the mask mandates,
They keep us all locked up real tightI wish we all could leave California, now
I wish we all could leave California,
I wish we all could leave California, nowWell, Texas has more freedom,
And pistol grips out there aren't banned
I'd dig a Florida place with no mask on my face,
And no income tax sounds grandI been all around this Commie state,
And my time here's about spent
Yeah, but I couldn't spot even one U-Haul lot
That had a single truck left to rentI wish we all could leave California, now
I wish we all could leave California,
I wish we all could leave California, now (edited)

I've met Americans who've moved to my town. It's in Poland btw. I never thought I'd see the day where people chose Poland over the USA without an extradition treaty. World's gone mad.

When it comes to parodies, I think the Babylon Bee nails it everytime.

Because they don't just sing the songs in their own voice, they actually try to match the vocals of the original and do it flawlessly

As an ex-native Californian this is the greatest piece of satire I've seen. I saw the proverbial writing on the wall and left 15 years ago and have never regretted it.

I moved out of California in 1997 for different reasons and it took a while to get used to some of the cultural differences, like seeing so many people walking around Walmart with a gun on their hip. Now I go to a church where half the congregation wears a gun. I feel a LOT safer here than I ever could in California. I do miss the beach, though.
NEWSOM: YOU GOTTA GO!!

Loved this. I'm a native Californian, and I'm horrified at the state of things. I'm also a native San Franciscan. The City, for years, has allowed naked perverts to walk around on Market Street. Crime is horrible. There are so many items (and I'm talking low cost articles) that the drugstores and retail stores lock-up now that it makes shopping (for paying customers) a big hassle. In the meantime, thieves walk out of stores with anything they want. The lawlessness is shameful. Thanks Babylon Bee. It's better to laugh than cry!

My family and I moved out of CA this summer. It wasn't easy but definitely worth it. The state has tenticles and once it grabs on to you it doesn't want to let you go but once you do finally escape, there's no looking back unless you want to be turned into a piller of salt.

If this song was up for a Grammy, I would actually watch the show.

As a former Californian, that song is hilarious!

Got out a few years ago and absolutely zero regrets!!!

Give those vocalists a raise... they nailed the Beach Boys vibe.

I left California a year and a half ago because of the terrible polices and high cost of living. The bit about not having any U-haul trucks available is on point. They wanted to charge us $3000+ for a truck to move OUT of California but only $500 to move from the same state INTO California. Even then, the order was pushed back several times because they just did not have any trucks available. We ended up saving $2000 paying my brother-in-law to rent a truck from out of state, driving it to us in CA, and then all the way back. It is sad what these terrible policies have done to this once beautiful state.

Though Southern Californian born and lived there all my life, I found myself moving out of that beautiful state in 2016. It was time. I thought none of what has happened would ever happen in a state of such wide ranging ideas and spirited creativity. This satirical song says it all....well-done.

Let me tell you, as a guy who's lived in California his whole life, this parody perfectly sums up the one thing I want to do about it.

Originally a Californian, I find this song simply precious. And unfortunately true. I grew up with the Beach Boys, live in concert on the beach at Santa Cruz, and this melody captures their unique sound and harmony magic. What fantastic lyrics! How do you guys keep churnin' out the hits?!

Brilliant! As a former California resident (2x), all I can say is it's a damn shame what's happened to that state. It was always a little different, but they have destroyed it.

Left California four years ago after living there for 30 years. Couldn't be happier.

I'm a life-long west coaster (born and raised in California) and life-long conservative (yes, they do exist on the west coast.) After meeting my wife, we moved to the northwest and raised a family. Once we became empty nesters, we decided we had had enough of liberal politics and the high cost of living. We relocated to Texas last year and have never looked back. And yeah, we're here to help keep Texas red, y'all. 🤠

To all those who have or are thinking of moving out of Cali, remember not to vote for schmucks who want to bring those same policies to your new home.

Native Californian that just moved out last week and I couldn’t be happier already! I’m a teacher of 15 years and my wife is an RN. We are very indicative of the population that is leaving, the tax base. meanwhile you have illegals and homeless flooding into the state that require and expect government assistance. Higher taxes on the horizon in addition to the high energy costs, insane inept policies, and one of the worst public education systems in the nation. See ya Cali.
