For cabinets I use self stick tiles for the inside bottom. It holds up a lot better than contact paper and is pretty inexpensive. Great job on the boat!

Shellac base primer is one of the best stain blockers and primers for wood and walls especially for renovation work. If you use it just make sure you can ventilate the area you use it in.
