This Wholesome Anime just Turned DARK

Buddy Daddies ep 8 just became darker. Rei Suwa's Birthday and his meeting with his dad to take over the business. Now they are going after Miri and Kazuki to destroy the family. This anime makes me wanna cry, the director asked actual parents about their experience and you can feel the authenticity in every episode, they act like a GENUINE family, it doesn’t feel forced from either side.

This anime on the surface is just a wholesome found family show. However, there have been dark undertones from the beginning. Whether its Kazu dealing with not wanting responsibility with the cat because they could die, or Rei sleeping in a tub because of his upbringing and finding the cold hard tub better than a bed. It's been a real treat.

Watching Rei getting soft for Miri and Kazuki really warms my heart. The poor guy never had love and affection before in his life.. and they give him everything that he needs!!! That smile he gave to Miri… shows how much he really loves her (even when he’s not aware of it) 😭❤️

The happiness lasted 6 episodes but 7 and 8 just got sad :(

Ik comparing two wholesome shows is bad but I found following differences in Buddy Daddies and Spy x Family:
1. SxF is pretty dark itself but is mostly covered by wholesomeness and perfect balance of humour. Buddy daddies has not hidden that dark side of the show. It has been dark since ep 1, hinting Kazuki's brutal past and Rei's abused childhood. I have my suspects that Miri also witnessed stuff she shouldn't have, like her mother getting abused or worse. She mentioned that she wondered if her mom must be feeling lonely but brushed it off and is happy with her current parents bc it is a safer and way better place. Miri's mother probably also loved her but knew she couldn't raise her with her financial condition and that abusive job where a mother wouldn't want their child to get involved. So she sent her away, it was still sad tho.

2. While Anya and Miri are both adorable and quite unpredictable children, Miri radiates way more positivity. They are around some age but Miri can make you smile on your darkest times. That's how bubbly she is. Well, that's understandable since Anya had a WAY MORE tragic past, has seen worst kind of stuff and can read people's minds. Anya is very lively considering how much she has been through at such a young age.

3. SxF has more developed storyline. I don't mean that Buddy Daddies is inferior in anyway. Both are pretty wholesome and unique in their own way but the former's storyline is more thought-out than the latters. I can feel that Buddy Daddies will have less episodes considered to SxF. Still pretty enjoyable tho

It's just hits different after episode 10 😭 I wanna cry like- they were such a nice family. I wanna see Rei, Kazuki and Miri together again, you can see the genuine sadness in their eyes in ep 10. Oml i just want a happy ending for them 😭
I just watched ep 10 and tears are rolling down my face rn istg I'm gonna be so angry if they don't get a happy ending, They truly deserve a happy ending 😭


Edit : I'm so glad it was an happy ending, the ending was clearly unexpected 😭 Rei, Kazuki and Miri got much older. It seriously made me cry 😭

And when I saw that they wanted to unalive miri and Kazuki I wondered right away what rei would do cause it was the suwa business who want to unalive them
