India and Pakistan are more comparable than India and China. First, India and Pakistan got independent at the same time. Second, both the countries have democracies (though Pakistan may have a rough one). The political economy of India and China is very different. China does not have democracy and hence, it is relatively easy to make changes in policy when you do not have opposition parties, strikes, protests, and PILs. There is no doubt that China is way more developed than India but then, one must not forget at what cost. India's growth is slow but more sustainable.
