Beware*** Would not recommend Sunrun. We purchased a Brightbox battery to use after the sun goes down. We shared our intent with the salesman prior to the purchase. However, Sunrun has decided we can only use the battery from 3pm- 8pm. In the summer this $6k box just sits idle since the sun does not go down until 9ish. They originally stated this was an agreement with Sunrun and the utility company until we had a conference call and when the utility company stated there is no such agreement. The utility company stated they are encouraging customers to use their battery. Sunrun then stated the contact was the one my husband and I signed that reads "You agree that Dealer may, from time to time, remotely administer the batteries in your Solar Facility in connection with demand response or other programs in coordination with your utility to maintain the reliability of the electrical grid." which means even though we own the Brightbox they have control over it and will not change it or allow us to use our battery after 8pm. I guess the "other programs" would be the owner not using their own equipment. I'm still waiting to hear back from a Manager after three other employees continue to inform me this is an agreement that will not change. We are now paying for electricity after 8pm with a battery that is charged. Paying for solar panels, a battery and the electricity to the electric company was not what we had in mind after spending $24k.
