The thing about a lot of Talking Heads music is that it’s really funk disguised as new wave. They are downright funky, especially live.

This concert film was directed by Jonathan Demme, and many agree that it is the best concert film. You need to see the entire thing. The concert begins with just Byrne on stage while subsequent songs add musicians and singers til everyone is on stage. How David Byrne maintained his energy throughout the performance was amazing.

Stop Making Sense is considered one of the best concert films ever. They played 3 concerts at the same theater for the film and the band rocked all 3 concerts with same energy throughout. Ot is an amazing movie.

Dude on keys is Bernie Worrell who also played keys for Parliament Funkadelic. I've always said one of the top ten funk bass players of all time is Bernie's left hand.

THIS IS IT!! This is the show you need to watch. Sit down on your movie night and watch this show, the whole thing, from start to finish. It is a production! It highlights everyone.. and everyone gives 10, 000% energy the whole time. They all get a moment to shine as well from David, to the backup singers, to Alex Weir (guitar)... Amaazing show.

This performance was, for me, the highlight of the "Stop Making Sense" movie, which is saying something because they outdid just about all the studio versions of the songs they performed. Don't forget the synth solos from first Bernie Worrell and second Jerry Harrison. If you're looking for more, how about "Girlfriend Is Better" again from this same show.

We should all be grateful that concerts like this were captured for eternity. This is Talking Heads at their creative and performing peak, they just slay in this performance and I am sure it will still be enjoyed a hundred years from now. This is Classical Music. ✌️

That's Tina Weymouth providing that amazing bassline. She is married to the drummer, Chris Frantz, and you can't forget Jerry Harrison rocking out on keyboards. David Byrne gets a lot of recognition and rightfully so, but the other band members are just as awesome at what they do as well.

I don't know what this says about me, but this was my music. This was considered 'normal' to me and my friends. We ate it up. B-52s, Kate Bush, Throwing Muses, Peter Murphy, The Cure, Thomas Dolby, and so many others. So different, but so musical, and so good. I'm glad you are getting into them. It took a few listens, but you are on your way.

I was 15-18 years old when Talking Heads were becoming popular. However, in my school, new wave music was not “cool” so we laughed at them, and made fun of how strange they were. In hindsight, I regret that. They are so creative & talented… and musicianship is highly underrated. Love the songwriting, love the performances… love all of it… one of my all time favorites

This early alternative, new wave, pseudo pop rock, funk band was just so much fun. You just could not change the radio station, change the channel on their music videos . I bet their live shows were a blast 👍👍
