Im shocked how Virgin Media and O2 have completely moved to using foreign call centres when the rest of the industry like BT/EE who are bringing call centres back to the UK. They made a lot of people redundant especially the Virgin Mobile centre in Trowbridge, terrible ethics and ruins employees lives and pisses off the customers.

You are absolutely right. The worst customer service ever. I was lied by the customer service team member.

I really dislike Virgin Media for this, bad deals for the loyal existing customers unless you spend hours on end trying to cajole them into respecting your loyalty. Something rancid about the way they do business.

Just this week, I telephoned Virgin Media as my package increased from £97.50pm to £119.00pm. Been with them since 1991. With a bit of negotiation, they were willing to drop the price back to £97.50. I was ok with that. With the package, my broadband speed was 350Mbps. Before I put the phone down, I asked about an increase in broadband speed and what it would cost. The 500Mbps with the rest of my package would have cost £107.50pm. I then enquired about the 1Gbps. They then made me an offer of 1Gbps with my package at a reduced price of £93.50. Why does one have to suck the information out of them to get a better deal? It does not make sense. Be upfront with your loyal customers. It pays off in the long run.

My tv, internet and phone deal pretty much doubled to £44 this month. I called them to ask for it to go back down, first person i spoke to offered me £40, second person offered me £32. I asked to be given the deal for just broadband that new customers were getting - 26.50. The answer was no, i cancelled. Next day, they called me uo to retain me, offered me the same package for 28, after some negotiation I got the internet for £20 and a free stream box that pretty much does that same thing as existing box that im losing. You have to cancel. All in all about an hour on the phone over the two days.

Oh yes, Virginmedia are absolutely terrible. As you say, new customers get offered the 'all singing' package for a realistic price. Once you've been with them for a while, they just go ahead and double the monthly payments.
I'm also in an area where I could, in the past, only get Virgin Broadband. For some reason, I don't seem to have a BT line to the property, and BT are unwilling to connect me to what has become a legacy service. During the pandemic, with people working from home, I was not in a position to pull the plug on the rude - and frankly dishonest - customer retention operative.
However, the most recent hike - to just shy of £60 for broadband - was the proverbial straw. Who cares how fast the service is advertised to be, as I'm often left staring at the spinning wheel when watching Prime or YouTube. The only solution is to switch to tethering on 4G, whereupon smooth, uninterrupted video resumes.
So, it's goodbye to Virgin, who seem to have knocked Scottish Power off the 'who holds their customers in the most contempt' podium.

Gigabit internet is also offered through cable internet, which uses the same coaxial cables for standard cable internet and TV.
Leveraging new DOCSIS 3.1 technology, cable internet service providers are able to offer up to 1 Gbps download speeds,
but you’ll have to check on the upload speeds because they’ll be substantially slower than a fiber-optic connection.

Fiber Internet has a speed capable range of 846 to 940 Mbps download and 792 to 880 Mbps upload for Gig Service Internet.
Max speeds are wired speeds. Wi-Fi, actual and average speeds may vary.

Fiber 1 Gig Max capable download speeds range from 846-1000 Mbps and upload speeds range from 792-1000 Mbps.

That means another Virgin scam, selling cheap coaxial as fibre optic which is after contract £65pm

My dad's paying nearly £80 a month for landline and a tv package of 200 crappy channels. No discounts and no help on the phone either and I've tried for him umpteen times. I have to haggle myself for hours every 18 month to fix my own package price but I can't get help for him. He's 83 for goodness sake.. I'm fuming right now.

They do it all the time, by simply increasing your out-of-contract costs forcing you to phone and get a better deal, thus renewing your contract for a further 18 months, the downside is it will cost you just short of £300 to buy yourself out of the contract deal, My new provider's speeds are just over 900 Mbts both up and down, for just under £40 a month including a phone line and that includes full fibre to the hub inside

I'm looking at a 30% plus increase including the £15 price hike because US proxy war in Ukraine - the almost thousand military camps around the world weren't enough for them, they're bogusly telling me I've been getting a discounted rate for past several months, that's £125 a month for TV / Broadband and a TV subscription for my pensioner mother to watch her dramas, if it weren't for that I'd be able to do away with the proxy state TV license because I sure has don't watch or record any live TV neither does my mother.

My renewal is a 100% hike post 18 month contract. The reminder came last week less than 1 month notice. They are scum. I will be cancelling.

Threaten to leave and cancel until they give you same deal as new customers if they don’t cancel . They are rip offs.

I know too well how much virgin media are liars.

We had a local internet service provider for about 20 years or more. We were getting 480Mb/ download speeds for years @ €40 a month.

Then about five years ago our isp sold out to virgin media and I received a letter stating they will match what our local private ISP was offering.

What I got was 240Mb/s download speed for €45. That's half the speed for a higher price.

BUT!!! They've increased their prices a few times since and they're now charging me €62 for the same internet speed on an old system.

I tried to get them to switch me to the new system which is only €2 a month less and 250Mb/s. But they wouldn't switch me over.

Here in this town in Ireland virgin is the best we can get.

Be with them 4 years and the customer service is terrible just in the last two months my gaming has been horrendous upload speed drop from 17 mbs to just 4.7 still to this day

You could moan or you could use this knowledge to your advantage of "working the system". I mark in my calendar the contract expiry, call them to cancel and a few days later someone from retentions calls me to offer me a much better updated price to stay.
I've done this every for years and it works everytime.

come on peoples they have been doing this for years. Play them at their own game tell them to cancel your contract a month before it is due to expire, I guarantee they will ring you up before it is due, then haggle, if you are not happy with what they offer say no. don't worry a couple of days later they will ring you back. Seen it. Done it. Got the T shirt.
