Inert complexes:
A complex which does not undergo substitution with in one minute when the concentration of reactants is 0.1 M and 〖𝟐𝟓〗^𝟎 𝑪 such complexes are inert complexes.

Example: 𝑑^3 (ℎ𝑖𝑔ℎ −𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑛) 𝑑^4,𝑑^5,𝑑^6 ( 𝑙𝑜𝑤 −𝑠𝑝𝑖𝑛 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑥𝑒𝑠)
〖 𝑑〗^7,𝑑^8,𝑑^9, 𝑑^10 ( 𝑎𝑙𝑙 𝑐𝑜𝑚𝑝𝑙𝑒𝑥𝑒𝑠)

Electron transfer reactions:
The electron transfer reaction in which an electron transfer from one atom or group to another atom or group is called as Electron transfer reactions.

These reactions may be classified into two types.

The reactions involving simple electron transfer (or)
The electron transfer reaction with no net chemical change.
The reaction in which electron transfer takes place results no Net chemical change.
hence these reactions are called as Electron exchange reactions /simple electron transfer reactions.

Ex: [Os (en)_3 ]^(+3) + [Os*(en)_3 ]^(+2)→ [Os (en)_3 ]^(+2) + [Os*(en)_3 ]^(+3) K = 5 x 10^4 𝑀^(−1) 〖𝑠𝑒𝑐〗^(−1)

[Fe (CN)_6 ]^(−3)→"[Fe (" 𝐶𝑁)_6 ]^(−4)

The Species which undergoes oxidation reaction is called reducing agent or Reductant.

The Species which undergoes reduction reaction is called Oxidising agent or Oxidant.
