When it comes to things like this, I think people not actually involved will ALWAYS freak out and shit because they don't actually understand it, even when it's "explained". So they use movies and conspiracy theorists to fill in the parts they don't understand and, in turn, that affects their own opinions to the point that they believe it, therefore, they also think their opinion is valid as a fact lol

I think people are so used to "bad things" happening in movies when it comes to how movies portray these types of machines and events, that they think the events in movies would actually happen in real life...which is illogical because they're comparing something someone made up for entertainment purposes with actual reality.

I'm NOT saying it is impossible, but a lot of our ideas of what could happen with CERN are largely based on how it's portrayed in entertainment media, novels and conspiracy theorists who think they have all of the answers, and those influence US and our opinions
