Use addition and division to solve real-world problems with rational numbers
In this lesson you will learn to use addition and division to solve real-world problems with rational numbers by analyzing the situation described in the problem.

STANDARDS
CCSS.7.NS.A.3 Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving the four operations with rational numbers. Computations with rational numbers extend the rules for manipulating fractions to complex fractions.
TEKS.5.3.A estimate to determine solutions to mathematical and real-world problems involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division;
TEKS.5.3.E solve for products of decimals to the hundredths, including situations involving money, using strategies based on place-value understandings, properties of operations, and the relationship to the multiplication of whole numbers;
TEKS.5.3.H represent and solve addition and subtraction of fractions with unequal denominators referring to the same whole using objects and pictorial models and properties of operations;
TEKS.5.3.K add and subtract positive rational numbers fluently; and
TEKS.5.4.F simplify numerical expressions that do not involve exponents, including up to two levels of grouping;
TEKS.6.3.C represent integer operations with concrete models and connect the actions with the models to standardized algorithms;
TEKS.6.3.D add, subtract, multiply, and divide integers fluently; and
TEKS.6.3.E multiply and divide positive rational numbers fluently.
TEKS.6.9.C write corresponding real-world problems given one-variable, one-step equations or inequalities.
TEKS.A1.11.B simplify numeric and algebraic expressions using the laws of exponents, including integral and rational exponents.
TEKS.7.3.A add, subtract, multiply, and divide rational numbers fluently; and
TEKS.6.14.C balance a check register that includes deposits, withdrawals, and transfers;
TEKS.7.3.B apply and extend previous understandings of operations to solve problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division of rational numbers.
TEKS.7.4.D solve problems involving ratios, rates, and percents, including multi-step problems involving percent increase and percent decrease, and financial literacy problems; and
TEKS.7.13.F analyze and compare monetary incentives, including sales, rebates, and coupons.
TEKS.7.10.C write a corresponding real-world problem given a one-variable, two-step equation or inequality.
