Basics of gravity assists - Kerbal Space Program

preview_player
Показать описание
A basic tutorial for gravity assists in Kerbal Space Program. This is more of a loose tutorial just showing how to use gravity to get around the Kerbol system.
Warning I am not efficient using gravity slingshots in this video this is just to show you how to do gravity assists.

Maneuvers were well described. Thank for the information, and the entertainment.

This should be the video linked in the ksp wiki page and not the Scott Manley one, I mean, this is a real and simple Tutorial on how to gravity assist!

Hey Orb8ter,
I haven't been on your YouTube channel for a long time. But I enjoyed watching your video. You described it very well, I could understand it as a German one👍.
But I have one question why did you wrote KERBIN Space Program, doesn't it is KERBAL Space Program?
Sorry for my English, there might be some mistakes in my comment.

A “basic” rocket that can get you basically anywhere in the kerbol system. Hmm... what about interstellar space? Does it have the deltaV for that?

"You can't use the Mun to get to Duna"
Incorrect. I sent a Jool mission in a career save and used a gravity assist off the Mun to get very close to Duna height. It was nowhere near the right time to go straight to Duna, but it was a sufficient assist.

When you go to Jool, you can use a gravity assyst from Tylo to be in jool orbit without any other burn. Tylo can put you in there.

Super helpful video. What is the mod called where it burns the node perfectly. i always mess my nodes up and can never get them to be perfect

I just had a epiphany watching this, so I’ve been stuck trying to get to Duna. I just realized my mistake. I was going from deep space to tight orbit wasting so much deltaV. I should be going from deep space to high elliptical orbit.

What's the mod that's showing you the porkchop plot? Is that in Mechjeb?

Hey Orb8ter, how about a video of how to make a rocket that will make it from kerbin to Eve, land and make it back to Kerbin in one mission? I have no idea how to build a rocket that can do that. Thanks

OK so drastic oversimplification, encounter with planet behind it = greater speed relative to its parent celestial body, encounter with planet in front of it = lesser relative speed to its parent celestial body.

was just watching another ksp video by another youtuber and it made me start thinking of challenges, in the video the guy does a reddit challenge in which the object of the challenge is to retrieve a satellite from kerbin orbit and return it planet side...needless to say the youtuber one upped the challenge and proceeded to recover a satellite from duna orbit with an SSTO, so i propose a challenge to you to take it further....might take a bit of setup work though...my challenge is this, not just retrieve a satellite from space, but retrieve it using an SSTO from a eeloo polar orbit, and return....think you're game Orb8Ter?

Great information, but the pronunciation of Mun irritated me way more than it should.
