This brought back memories. In the late 70's I drove truck and whenever I was heading out Route 80 east, I would always hop off onto Route 46 just to get hotdogs & birch beer. Sure it was a longer route to New York, but oh so worth it. Side note; I was never brave enough to try the buttermilk. Great video, thanks for the memory resurrection.

In recipes a substitute for buttermilk is regular milk with vinegar added to it. Buttermilk is a tangy flavor. Best in pancakes, bread and biscuits. Salad dressings and dip. I don't think I'd like it plain. Lol. You guys are brave. I love the idea of a whole pickle on the hotdog. Yum.

I drink buttermilk with a sprinkle of salt on top at home and always when I go to Johnnys. They even sell it by the gallon in pickle jars. The best way to drink the buttermilk or Birch Beer is to eat inside and get it in a frosted mug (only available inside) Colder and taste much better.

The delicious flavor in Irish soda bread comes from the buttermilk. There was a hotel near there, that had a big buck whitetailed deer in a pen.

Bobby from South Jersey. Hudock's has really good foot long hotdogs. One foot long chill dog a large lunch bag full of fries and unsweetened iced tea was less than $10.00 the last time I was there. They have great ice cream too.

Buttermilk must be an acquired taste lol I knew it was probably pretty terrible when the cashier said you can get a sample first. I'm sure a lot of people purchased it and brought it back because they hated it so they started selling samples lol
