Lol, so basically this is the ancient equivalent of 'I hope you are well". A standard greeting which often began with a prayer for the reader's health, but also Gaius' spiritual state was so excellent that John adapted the standard letter writing conventions of the time, to further highlight Gaius' spiritual state and prayed that his (Gaius') physical health would match his spiritual vigor. So though a greeting, this was also a prayer but not a promise. Right??
