Justice Chandrachud Takes Oath As The 50th Chief Justice Of India | Breaking News | Times Now

The 50th Chief Justice of India, Justice Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud, took the oath of office on Wednesday. At the Rashtrapati Bhavan, the newly appointed Chief Justice was sworn in by the President of India Draupadi Murmu. Justice Chandrachud was suggested by outgoing Chief Justice UU Lalit as his replacement on October 11. The President accepted this recommendation on October 17. Justice DY Chandrachud will serve as CJI from November 10, 2024, for a tenure of more than two years, making it one of the longest in recent memory. The Supreme Court named DY Chandrachud a judge on May 13, 2016, the son of the 16th Chief Justice of India, Yeshwant Vishnu Chandrachud.
