It makes alot of sense actually, as gogeta is literally a combination of the names while vegito is different, and the first one would have the more basic approach. Imo vegoku wouldve made more sense than vegito

Fun fact: we were supposed to get gogeta vs buu, but, since the fusion reborn movie was being created before Goku and Vegeta fused against buu, they asked that gogeta make his debut in the movie for the first time, which is why we got Vegito

Gogeta came first originally canonically Vegito came first due to the movie Fusion Reborn which took place moments before Buuhan was about to fight Goku and Vegeta
