I see a lot of comments saying thay the SMB1 flags are actually used in the game for checkpoints. The icons on the flags are the same, but the form of the flags ARE different. These never get used in the game.

I like how oddly serious diagonal pieces of floor become for Nintendo in Mario Maker 2. As you said, they literally made the game’s internal name Slope and they showcased slopes as the very first new thing back in the first MM2 trailer

I still can't understand why the heavy stone block was IN THE STORY MODE but then not a usable item in level creation!!! 🤨

The Ferris wheel actually isn’t based on the one seen in the final level. It’s based on one of the background objects seen on the world bowser world map.

For the unused file called "shell" I would assume it's probably just a base template that was used to create all the other shells

I thing they should bring the cut stuff in the game, MM2 sales are lowering, and a new update could perk it back up like MK8 (even though MK8 was fine even without the update)

Knowing they actually seemed to be planning to add the Mystery Mushroom, Lanky Mario and most of the course parts/enemies to every style but cut them just makes me even more upset about now Nintendo handled the game. We were robbed.

in the beta version there is a change in the color of the tiles of the snow version of SM1. Before it looked gray and not purple like the final version. If you want to check it, watch the first direct of SMM2 at min 6:10.

The items that are listed in the course parts list, are probably just the items that can exist in a course, not just the placable ones

For the Mystery Mushroom and unused part sounds, maybe they were holdovers from Mario Maker 1 not intended for SMM2. Reason I think this is possibly more plausible is because it’s more than likely SMM2 was built off of the first. So carry overs in the files makes absolute sense.

i think that the "shell" item might be an item that you can go inside like a temporary blue shell because you can do it in SM3DW

3:38 this model isn't actually unique to this game, as this is a direct port from the ferris wheel seen in the background of world bowser.

I'm so sad that they never added the Mystery Mushroom and Weird Mushroom into Mario Maker 2. Fingers crossed for if they ever make SMM3.

He is officially called Weird Mario by the way, not Lanky Mario.

The original design for the twisters were actually modeled after enemies in the series called "Foo". These enemies appeared in NSMBWiiU and NSMBWii (I think).

I read somewhere that the NSMBU castle theme at night had it’s own background (along with a vertical variation). It’s beyond me they didn’t use it in the final version.
