Lesson 04 - Unpropped wall theory

In this video, the theory of active and passive pressure is used with the assumption of a rotational mechanism to establish the safety factor of a thin wall.
The analysis is made by determining the active pressure on the wall and calculating the passive pressure in equilibrium and the maximum passive pressure the soil can develop. The safety factor is calculated by comparing the maximum passive pressure with the passive pressure in equilibrium.
