Zoot Sims, Serge Chaloff, Herbie Steward and Stan Getz, in that order, in 1947, in the Second Herd. Woody doing the clarinet bit.

I was a mediocre sax player in high school and never understood why they made me learn so many chords and speed drills. THIS IS WHY. These guys are aboluly FANTASTIC sax players and musicians!!!

Really doing this classic number justice! Jimmy Guiffre, Woody Herman, Shorty Rogers, and the rest like Terry Gibbs were incredible.

Watching the conductor was a show in itself. Four Brothers is a highly charged energetic piece, it should be played (and conducted) that way. Great interpretation of Woody's masterpiece. Thanks!

First heard the Hird's recording in 1955 in Libya - blown away then - still marvel at it. Well done fellas all for carrying it forward and onward. Smashin'!
