One of the toughest parts of replacing the display on a Samsung phone is dealing with the adhesive that holds the phone together. It takes a lot of heat, prying and patience to get the display off. But, without that adhesive correctly in place, your phone’s sensitive interior is easily exposed to water, dust, and other particles which can cause major issues. SO, today we’re going to show you how to properly re-apply adhesive strips to your Samsung Galaxy’s display and rear panel.

Be sure to follow the guides so you don't miss a step!

remember when you could just take the back cover off and snap it back on?

This should be linked on the store with the adhesives, as this is probably the most difficult part of the whole process. Especially for us perfectionist types, who also want to try to get the best possible seal on our previously waterproof devices.

@iFixit a thing to mention is that the books work for the back cover as a weight but not for the display as I've done this with adhesive bought from a local store, your adhesive parts, glue (5000) for LCD, and with the book weights in never succeeds, it always lifts up after a day or so. After attempting to fix 10+ S6 Edge smartphones the only solution was to use a T-7000 glue and carefully apply it in the bezels, after that I needed to let the phone clamped with 8 claps for 40 hours. Tried 4, 8, 24, 32, 40 and tested the time needed, thus far every model I repaired needs 40-42 hours until the screen stays glued to the bezels, I recommend you to make a guide about using adhesives and general ones which anyone can find worldwide and especially glues (I used B5000 as well but the screen always comes off even after a month.)

Also check the adhesive used as some has to be heated after closing but before compressing it as it will not cure/adhere correctly if you don't.

The method of applying the vertical strip of adhesive shown here is is a poor hit and miss method. Having worked in the signage industry for several years the procedure of alignment
is amateurish.
The correct method is to align the vertical strip first. firmly secure the strip along the bottom edge to the FRAME of the phone with sign Vinyl or painters masking tape, to prevent the vertical adhesive strip from moving in a sideways direction strip ... Then the procedure from that point is as described in the video. Partially peel back the backing strip a little at a time as described in the video.
When the adhesive strip is correctly aligned in the first instance and secured to prevent sideways movement and the possibility of misalignment you will get it right first time every time.
Do not hurry, check twice, and do the job once. Patience is the key.

thanks so much this helped with a little project I had. I made my s10 plus completely see-through without using skins and gave the phone an extremely premium look compared to skins.

Hey everyone. Any further tips apart from the ones in the video? I'm going for a second attempt at resealing the back cover of my S20 Plus this weekend. Last attempt the cover just wouldn't fully stick, despite placing weight plates on it overnight 😢. Thanks.

The isopropyl alcohol we need to use, would you say that it should be like 70% or 90% alcohol? Also, if we choose to use a glue instead of adhesive strips, would the E6000 glue be suitable for cell phone repairs?
