Russia's Putin Sends 447 Goats As Gift To North Korea's Kim Jong Un To Strengthen Ties

Russia has approved the shipment of 447 goats to North Korea amid efforts to deepen ties between the two nations. The shipment, which includes 432 female and 15 male goats, follows a veterinary inspection by Russia's agricultural safety watchdog. The goats will be sent from Russia's Leningrad region to North Korea’s Rason City. This comes as Pyongyang is building large-capacity goat farms in Nampho City, aiming to boost dairy production for children. According to a 2022 UN report, one in six North Korean children suffer from malnutrition, affecting 285,000 kids. Meanwhile, North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un has pledged to deepen ties with Russia. He sent a message to Russia President Vladimir Putin on Liberation Day, commemorating the Soviet soldiers who fought alongside Koreans against colonial Japan. Kim also offered flowers at the Liberation Tower honouring Red Army soldiers.
