Years ago there was a man traveling around for his work as an exorcist, this man was named Evan and he is Blaze's father. While returning from a job, he met a young police detective named Kiara, Blaze's mother, who despite her job, wished for more excitement in her life.
Kiara was not like any woman he had ever encountered before and he encountered a lot with his work. There was something special about her that he couldn't quite put his finger on and he found himself falling for her as did for Kiara as she found herself enjoying his company and the excitement he provided her with. They eventually had a child together, Xander who you now know as Blaze.

The couple continued to care for their child until about six months after he was born when Evan remembered the job he wished to return too and how he took a vow to not interfere with the lives of normal people, including Kiara. Evan left without saying a word, only leaving behind only his bead bracelet to be given to his son. Kiara was absolutely heartbroken.

Kiara looked for him for two years while continuing to support her son but then she met Vlad, Blorick’s father and a man promising her help and revenge on the man that left her heartbroken, he encouraged her to leave her job and join his cult and being the emotional wreck she was, she did.

Six months into joining, Kiara realized she couldn't support her son without a job and sent him to live with his aunt, uncle and cousins. To the confusion of Blaze, he began to have doubts if his mother even really loved him. He got really close to his two cousins, Breaker and Blaster, he considered them more as his brothers than cousins.

Blaze never really wore the bracelet left to him by his father as he only saw him as the man that couldn't handle having a family so he decided to bugger off, usually keeping it in the drawer of his desk. But he did often look at it and on the odd occasion wear it.

Vlad made a deal with two powerful demons believing in a reward and after having volunteered his own daughter, now needed another way of fulfilling the deal with Alarica. He remembered Kiara talking about having a son a lot like his own daughter. His plan was set in place.

One day, Blaze was inspecting the bracelet in his hand when he heard screams coming from the living room. He ran out with the bracelet in his hand, only to see the diabolical forms of Blorick,  Blutterfly and Bloomery standing over the bodies of his aunt and uncle. Though shocked he quickly ran to the boy's hangout room where he knew his brothers were to see if they were safe and opening the doors, he saw them safe.

They attempt to question him and calm him down but the diabolicals crash through the door and Blaze makes his best attempt to protect them by pulling them both behind him.

Diabolical Blorick attempts to take a swing down at Blaze to which he crosses his arms in defense but grips down on his bracelet too hard and breaks it. Alarica then possesses the boys.

Now completing the deal Vlad had with the demons he demanded his reward, the reward he truly deserved. Val Keres and Alarica killed him. Painfully.
After learning what had happened to her son, Kiara promptly quit the cult and attempted to rekindle the relationship she had with her son.
Blaze is skeptical of her interests and it's hard for him to trust her but after she explains the situation he agreed to come live with her on the condition that she had to take in his cousins as well, which she happily did.

He met blorick and her sisters a few months later.
