Montana is one of the least populated states, the odds of it hitting someone is very low! It would most likely land somewhere high in the mountains.

There is so much not being said. A balloon is very slow moving and not very maneuverable. I find it hard to believe that we have not been tracking this thing for days. Also, the fact they they were able to maneuver a balloon to fly over some sensitive areas and not just aimlessness float over the corn is a technical feat. If it was intentional then the Chinese may not be a paper tiger like Russia.

Shooting it down may also cause it to release it's payload of possibly toxic or deadly substances, it should be captured and taken to a secure sight and then defused if it indeed is a trap/ trojan horse.
