How to cut a crown molding return

when using PFJ pine crown do i need to cut laying down or up...may be a crazy question but i'm having a hard time with it lol.

It's hard to tell if you switched your 45 angle on the saw left-to-right at any point since you were filming from behind the saw. Confusing....

How do you set up your saw so that you get a good angle for you crown? I don't think I saw any kind of guard, or do you have magic eyes and hands?
