In the middle of a metal concert. Thousands of metalheads, and they loved it.
The song is a hymn from the 13th century. The music by Pergolesi in the 18th century.
The next song in the concert is called Twin Flames.

I've been hoping you guys would check this out. This is the first movement of a longer suite, the “Stabat Mater”, composed in 1736 by Giovanni Pergolesi. It is based on a 13th century hymn about Mary mourning her crucified son. Pergolesi was suffering from tuberculosis, and died the day he completed the suite. He was only 26 years old. “Stabat Mater” is written for soprano and contralto, though the contralto line is often performed by a counter-tenor. In the Epica version, Floor Jansen does the contralto line, which is just mind-blowing in itself given that she normally performs in the soprano register. As you just saw, they reduced the arena full of metalheads to stunned silence.

🇫🇮❤your reaction to a performance that shows how metalheads - at least in Europe - appreciate beautiful music, not just metal.

Floor's range to nail the alto part was awesome.

For those wondering what Simone said at 7:27, it's "köszönöm szépen" which means "thank you" in Hungarian. The choir and the orchestra at this show were Hungarian.

Hi Crissy and Tomakazi, I just woke up, 4 am over here. Great to see you back.
This song is about Mary suffering because her son has been crucified.
The song was preformed during EPICA’s 10 years anniversary concert in 2013.
Can you imagine all those metal heads in the crowd getting educated.

The score portraits the sorrow we feel upon reflecting the crucifixion of our Savior Jesus Christ. The fragility of every instrument and vocals depict the scene at Golgotha, entirely and deeply heartfelt in every way. Certain scripture stands out every time I listen to this one. "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." 2 Corinthians 5:21... Amen guys, and thanks for this reaction. ❤❤❤

Indeed classical piece of Pergolesi ( 1710-1736, he died to early). Both are sopranos but Floor sang here the lower voice ( alt).

Stabat Mater Dolorosa ( pronounced "Stahbot Mahtear Dolorosa" )= "Stood the Mother, full of grief" ---- the hymn describing the Virgin Mary's sorrow at Jesus's crucifixion, sung completely in knew he was dying when he composed this piece at age well known in the classical repetoire, originally for 1 soprano, 1 alto and a 4 piece chamber to the orchestra and choir

Two Epica reactions in one night, Frank will be over the moon (hum, bet that dated me). Interesting twist in the middle of a metal concert. Never been a fan of opera, and this did not change my mind. Stay safe, God bless, keep rocking metal. I'll be in the bunker.

🇬🇧 Norfolk strapped in. That’s shows the respect of a metal crowd listening in silence to these queens 😊

Such a lovely song! I've lately been wondering where the 2 other guys are (but it's really not my business), but here I saw another black character in the background. Please introduce him/her!
