About Overtime Athletes:

My passion is Speed and Power and I want to devote myself to helping you guys out to become a complete dominant athlete. I work with a wide variety of athletes here in South Florida but want to help anyone and everyone improve in any sport or physical goal they might have.

say if the athlete already knows the lift, is it more beficial for them to have it programmed in their training or no?

Looking at the clean- you have the explosive triple extension through the ankle knee and hip, which as a movement translates to pretty much every sport that you can think of. Understand why if you don't have time (or can utilise your time better) you'd look at other options, but I think from a standpoint on rate of force production, we really shouldn't overlook the benefits that come from the Oly lifts.

i agree with this 100%, especially the snatch when it comes to athletes that rely on very shoulders like baseball, tennis, and volleyball
olympic lifts are a great pursuit on their own, but it's a separate sport altogether

But just one question, if the athlete were to have as much time as he needs, would you still teach him those Olympic lifts ? My point is, regardless of the time as a factor, is Olympic lifts as good as other exercises in terms of trying to maximize his performance ?

Studies show peak force is higher in a clean than in other movements such as/ similar to a box jump. If you’re training a collegiate athlete, that neuro-muscular adaptation optioned from a clean variation can seriously benefit him/her. Especially if it’s a sport that relies on explosiveness.

This is so reasonable and logical. Like the answer

Good points Chris. Can you give more examples of replacement exercises for hip extension and flexion for the genpop?

Word up.

Explosive Training Hierarchy:
#1 - Jumping
#2 - Sprinting
#3 - Weight Lifting

I appreciate your stuff man. Keep grinding.

While preforming a hang clean, does the athletes have to in a full squat or just a power clean? Because like if you're a basketball player, you barely land in a full squat...

i can do cleans, but snatches? man i messed up my shoulder doing that. burpees to a box jump are explosive. hell a sled push is too. kettlebell swings with bands, plyo push ups, box jumps, me ball tosses, trap bar jumps... man i could go on and on, but i have to admit med ball tosess are the best for explosive training. very little strain on the joints man.

My biggest concern for plyo is their ceiling of utility. Plyometrics are great, no doubt.

However many athletes will struggle to continue to improve their performance doing plyos. Strength training helps but you will still find many athletes struggling to bridge the gap between maximal force production and explosion. Ex. Your athlete's squat goes from 225 for 3 x 5 to 315 3 x 5 but they aren't jumping any higher, further or running any faster.

Power Cleans and Power Snatches are the missing link for these athletes as they really get a chance to work on their RFD at higher loads. This greatly transfers to plyo exercises performance and thus sports performance.

Same with me! I don’t snatch or any other O lifts. Just hang clean. It’s easy and personally, I think it’s better than snatches

Leave oly lifts to oly athletes. But you can add snatch cleans and pull cleans and should be done correctly . Stability you can do it with over head squats

For athletes trying to become more explosive, should is lifting heavy or light more beneficial? I've heard that for some lifts you should go heavy and for some you should go light, and for some I've heard you should do both. If you could make a video about this that would be great

More videos on alternative exercises from traditional power lifting techniques, olly lifting techniques etc etc would be sweet thanks for the content

i have a Problem with my knee, i had a motorcycle accident and basically my knee had a relly Big Open wound and now when i deadlift, everytime the scar hurts a lot and sometimes Begins bleeding under the Skin because tge Bar allways scraps it, i'm not sure if that's good...
Should i just use a knee strap or continue like i do or start Hex Bar deadlifting?

Every college and pro football players do power cleans like every fucking workout. There is a reason for it. It builds the most explosive strength of any exercise and helps build full body and functional muscle
