I was married to a German for 3 years, since I have a good job here I stayed even after we divorced..I kept the German name though because I am keenly aware that having a German name can help me here as a foreigner

"We don't get a call back on applications" ... if you don't get the job, that's normal. Doesn't matter what your skin looks like. I've never gotten a call back telling me that I DIDN'T get the job.

crazy that i as a black german in east berlin were the majority votes right wight, i've never been harassed or attacked by my fellow germans because of my skin and always felt welcomed and loved by everyone

thats the stupid victim mentality of people

Why wouldn’t there be a lot of it? I mean Germany is like a lot of countries that have immigration issues. You’re getting a lot of people from Africa, Eastern Europe etc. The U.S Is far from the most racist countries. In S.Korea, Japan westerners aren’t allowed in certain places

The whole having pictures on the aplication is for an American very shocking because in the USA it is not allowed.

Not getting called back about your application is (unfortunately) normal. Everyone has experienced this

Well you never hear back on applications as to why you weren’t hired.

Who commits the vast majority of assaults, rape, and murders in Germany?
Let me guess ….. it’s illegal to give the correct answer?

The racism is subtle...For example, standing in a meeting at my workplace with all germans and only one other foreigner from Africa (I am a black American) A visitor came into the room and asked me if : "Is that man your husband" pointing to the African dispite there being 20 other people in the room she assumed...I said No and she blushed and looked away knowing she had put her foot deeply in her mouth!

Um...these were not examples of racism. MOST people will judge you by your own behavior. All of the people in the video seemed nice. That is what *I* would judge them by, as would most people. If you act belligerent, obnoxious and entitled, then people will judge you accordingly.

My son lives in the United States. He is White. He put in 50 job applications before getting a job. Not getting a call back on an application is normal and a part of the process of getting a job. Calling it racist is just fueling hate. Be a grown up and learn to handle disappointments without dragging others into conflict!

People need to love each other and stop hating on each other, we all bleed the same and have hopes and dreams and just because someone is different than you don’t make them less special or valuable as a human being.

Yeah.. who made that survey? And what did they consider racism?

Not racism is rising, but prejudices born out of negative experiences. Those are not against each and every dark skinned person ie from the US, but because of a flood of illegal immigrants from Africa through the years and especially since 2015/16. A lot of young men came to Germany pretending to be refugees from Syria etc., and thanks to loopholes in refugees laws they could stay here. So they did, without making serious attempt to integrate, learning German, learning our culture, behaving respectfully in society and at work, towards men and women.
People are just so over by it now. Please don’t be surprised.

It was not a „study“. They just asked people if they experienced racism. So if are more aware you will more likely answer yes.

I grew up in Deutschland. The only black people I knew of were from American military bases. Never seen any black people in Berlin nor in the Rhineland Pfalz. But that is my experience.

Europe as a whole is very racist but like more ethnically.. but the worse place I’ve seen straight racism is Asia.. like it was oblivious where as in Europe it’s a lil more undercover… and for anyone who says that isn’t true probably have only been to Europe or Asia on vacation…

I'm an afrolatino who lived three months in Berlin. Yes, I experienced blatant racism at the supermarket and the train station. However, many people found my skin color attractive.
