Ferrari 400i GT - Will it drift? - 1080p HD

On circuit Park Zandvoort I have recorded a Ferrari 400i GT trying to drift. This car is very heavy due to his V12 engine. But it has rear wheel drive and 310 bhp!
Will they eventually manage to drift at least one round?

Thanks for watching and feel free to leave a comment behind!

Ferrari 400s are COOL. Ultimate mix of 80ies comfort and speed. Do not forget this car is basically still a 4 seater Daytona.

@redmr2na : this 400 is a true 5 speed, not an automatic. The owner is a friend of mine and he has owned it for a few years now.
BTW, it is hard to brake traction of these Ferraris, suspentions are really set up for maximum grip.

They really need to make this into a figure-8 track. Drifting too much in 1 direction leads to lots of tire wear on 1 tire...

Very good. You were getting toward the end there. Don't forget, this car wasn't ment to drift, so it doesn't have a suspension set up to do it. That said, neither would a daytona.

Well, if it's a 5-speed, why doesn't he give it more power, and hold gears longer? With no weight over the drive wheels, it shouldn't be that hard to execute a drift with the stock suspension set up on this car with the amount of power this car has.

@DrivenMind It does, because it wasn't ment to drift. Give it a better setup, and it would drift. Also, this is probably an automatic 400i. The 5 speed would probably fair better at drifting. I notice that the driver has to let off the power and coast every 2 seconds, so that the gearbox kicks down to what is 1st in it's sequence.

Thank you for this video I can’t even imagine trying to drift this 400 high because the tires cost too damn much. Are used to own one of these a 1981 but never on the stick shift. It was a automatic but all in all thank you for this video and I know it’s kind of old if you see this comment thank you

I’m glad there was a good lap there. Thought we had a lame duck behind the wheel for a bit.

I remember watching Rain Man and wondering what was that beautiful car Tom Cruises was driving away from the dock where the Lamborghinis were unloaded….best opening sequence….Lambo coming into view from the right, suspended in the air….
Anyway…the 400/412…so elegant…I’ll take one along with a Mondial and a 348

Iedereen vind hem lelijk maar ik niet. Ik vind het een mooie auto. Kom je vaak op zandvoort trouwens?

when looking for a classic Ferrari, i would rather have this than the Testarossa or the 288GTO

Sadly from 2030 on all combustion cars including classics will be banned from public streets in EU :-( In Germany the Green party gave order to shorten fuel supply from 2025 on by reducing petrol stations to only one station per city. :-(

Great looking car, but the engine, and trans seems kind of weak.

These were built for wafting, not drifting

Trying to get a Ferrari into drifting or a burn out really is the stupidest thing I have ever seen. Go get some Detroit steel with a push rod cast iron V8 engine to do these things, not with a Ferrari.

Purists will decry the if you want a lot more and reliable power, you could swap in a LSx engine and have an absolute blast.
