Back in the day, my father would play this music by Brian Bennett in his car as we drove down the highway at night. As a young boy, these tunes filled me with a sense of wonder. Each light we passed on the highway seemed magical and futuristic, akin to spaceships. I was utterly captivated and entranced by these enchanting and mysterious lights.

One of my favorite 'zone out' songs/albums! This and anything by Lonnie Liston Smith puts me in the right headspace.

A (relatively) unknown composer influences and reaches other artists in unexpected ways. Reading through the comments, I didn't see much of anything said about Brian Bennett. A drummer by trade, finding big success with easy-listening, clean-cut, guitar-led instrumental band The Shadows from the 60s, and still very occasionally playing gigs, though all the guys are in the top end of their 70s by now. Brian's sideline was composing commercial off-the-shelf library music for the KPM and Bruton publishing houses, for use in TV and film by budget-constrained producers (or more recently for nostalgic effect). He also wrote some specially commissioned pieces for TV. If you've watched any British or Australian TV from the 1970s (some 80s), there's an extremely good chance that you've heard his varied music style popping up in all kinds of programs.

Geeks/Anoraks only: The long-standing classic BBC Golf theme is a well-known Bennett library composition. UK kids who went to school in the late 80s/early 90s will certainly know his library piece 'The Journey' used as background music for the 'ITV Schools on Channel 4' rotation device, and 'Just a minute', used for the accompanying clock.

I love how they produced the drums on this recording. They just had it down in the 70s ...

For those who care, Francis Monkman plays keyboards on this. Francis was a member of Curved Air and he also played live with 801 band (Manzanera, Eno and others), and Sky with John Williams, Herbie Flowers amongst others.

I’ve been listening to this type of music for hours on end and have been getting so much cleaning done around the house with no interruptions

I know Brian Bennett's old as shit, but I hope he reads these comments, or someone reads them to him.
