shaking most of them off and brushing off the few remaining ones is about the only way of using the brush because they sure don't like being moved off with a brush. If you want to see angry bees, brushing a good number of them is the way to go.

Do you think by placing the top super on the ground your inviting moisture and insects and other thing into the hive? Do you think it might be better if you placed the top super on a second flat rather than on the bare, damp ground?

It is just dry grass in a field. It had not rained for a week when I made the video. It is August. Most insects have gone through there life cycles and are no longer an issue. I guess if there were issues with this procedure I would have addressed them.
