Retro Painting: Blood Angels DREADNOUGHT for my 2nd Edition Space Marines

I HAVE AWOKEN!

If my Blood Angels are to survive against the Tyranids in an upcoming battle report, they're gonna need all the help they can get!

The Dreadnought is by far the most powerful and versatile of space marine units in 2nd Edition, not to mention an amazing piece of design by Jes Goodwin. Its menacing appearance translated neatly onto the tabletop, sporting an array of heavy weapon options that were buffed substantially compared to examples that might be found elsewhere in space marine forces.

This was awesome fun to paint and I can't wait to see my Dreadnougt striding into battle alongside his brothers from the Blood Angels 3rd Company!

At my local game store we have a guy who plays 40k with his late 2nd early 3rd chaos space marines. He just recently upgraded from metal Abby and terminators to plastic, but he still rocks the two heavy metal chaos dreadnoughts.

Absolutely adore these every time you make one, just sends me way back to looking at the old catalogues dreaming of models in glass cabinets.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the new sculpts for models and they have their place for modern design sensibilities, but they just don’t have the soul like these retro models do.

Easily my fav second edition content on the YouTube's! If the next battle report is half as good as the Armageddon stuff i will be very happy. Awesome stuff dude keep it up!

The usual glory being brought to beautiful old models! Still adore the banners you add to the Blood Angels, they are so striking. Also very nice to see the Lictor on the edge of the painting desk! Hope we see him soon.

I really love the pitted surface all the larger areas have from the casting process, I don't think I've seen a metal boxnaut without atleast some pitting. Love it

How refreshing to see a beautiful metal miniature restored and worked without complaint. I love these old metal figures and this one is a gem. It was also great to see Acetone used as well, lol. Nice job, this model is amazing. ❤👍

This looks super nice. I'm a big fan of the Primaris Dreads as they're imposing and cool centerpiece models but man Firstborn Dreads just have such a charm to them.

The dreadnought is painted fantastic! As a rather new Warhammer Player I love the old paintjobs and Designs. Glad to see these well-made videos!

At first I was hesitant seeing the red is just a base colour and edge highlights, but the end result was really great! Sometimes simple (but tedious) schemes really are the best :)

Keep the excellent content coming!

Re-doing the same era metal Dark Angels dreadnought for my dad for his birthday. Massive chunk of pewter is a beast! Pinning will likely be in my future.

I'm definitely following and adapting this when painting my own metal dread. Great work Ed!

Man, seeing you paint step-by- step has made me pick up my brushes and at least try to paint my pile of shame. Seeing your army grow is inspiring, thank you!

Excellent mate! You know I think this thing could actually be classified as an offensive weapon! These old dreads are seriously heavy! 🤣 thanks for another minisode! 👍
