If svitollina didnt spend her energy for screaming, i bet she still had the energy to run for the last ball

Love the way she proves that screeching is unnecessary.

I absolutely love it when the screamers lose to the quiet/much less screaming players 😍💪🏼

Svitolina thinks that screaming will intimidate Fernandez. But she was only exhausting herself.

Svitolina is almost hitting rt back to Fernadez while Fernadez is making Svitolina run around like a cat chasing a lazer

Is it wrong that I’m glad the girl NOT yelling when she hit won this round?

Svitolina’s fake grunts are so disgusting

People that think it’s unnecessary to scream clearly have never been to the gym. When you’re at the point where you have to give your all to push through the motion, and the strain on your body is reaching its limit, you have to grunt to get through.

Fundamental: consistent strokes, hit wide, 5 to the backhand to fake out the grumter 👏

Her ground strokes are very precise, especially that down-the-line backhand! That shot reminds me of Djokovic!

So for those who don't know, the "Screeching" is a form of breath control taught at Tennis academies around the world.
It's easier for a coach to teach breath control through grunts since there is an audible sound to show when the player is exhaling. This helps with understanding if they're utilizing particular muscles when they swing via breath control to strengthen their upper body and core at contact with the ball.

Most top level players grunt/screech/scream purely out of habit from training, not necessarily exhaustion.
I personally grunt only when completely exhausted.

Federer is a great example of breath control being done correctly without needing to grunt audibly. Breathing out at the right time has the same effect. Boxers do this when they punch.

However I also believe there are limits to how loudly you need go grunt while playing. I remember a while back something was going to be done about it but alas nothing yet.

Absolutely hate these screamers in hitting a shot back. Purely done for distracting opponent. Should have been outlawed years ago. A grunt or ooff is fine but that does your head in.

We never hear complaints about male grunting and that can be even louder than the women’s.

In my opinion, Fernandez should have beaten Emma in the US Open, she’s a phenomenal player

Why does no one in the comments understand grunting. Tennis players grunt when they need more air or more power. It is scientifically proven to put more power into the ball. Grunting can change your whole game.
