Cleaning Plastic Pollution in Kingston's Mangroves, Jamaica 🇯🇲

On Saturday, November 9th, we participated in the Great Mangrove Cleanup organized by our local partners. 8238 kg / 18,164 lb of waste no longer harms the vital ecosystems of Kingston’s mangroves, thanks to local communities around Kingston coming together. Along with our operations, we have directly intercepted nearly two million kilograms (4.4M lbs) of trash that would otherwise enter the harbor.

Lovely to see the fishermen join in the clean up. Where I live we get a lot of fishing net and line wash up on our beaches together with other fishing related items.

Lovely to see people coming together and working for nature. Would love to see a similar system that exists in Sweden where we reuse most bottles. Even an empty bottle is worth money(you add that cost when it's purchased) and then there is a huge incentive to bring them back to the store. At the store there is a station that crunches the bottle and then it goes to recycling. It works great and there are hardly any bottles in nature.
