Born in Pennsylvania, Billy Porter was destined for greatness. He went on to become a Broadway icon, earning a Tony for Kinky Boots (2013) and later winning an Emmy for his powerful role as Pray Tell in Pose (2018).

Amen brother! So can relate to this. I am his age and have sacrificed myself for other people, employers, men, my children… And for what? I’m done trying. For whatever I have left, I’m going to take care of myself first. Me first.

I'm 41 years old. I'm doing a lot of self care. I got on disability. I don't work. Instead, been recently diagnosed with physical and mental issues. Where I can't but now, I'm in PHP therapy. Then going to all the doctors so I can finally work on myself properly.

It's really true. Selfcare and loving yourself are intertwined. Selfcare is physical like sleeping enough, showering, moisturizing, eating well but it's also mental. Giving yourself space, not being harsh on your mistakes, accepting who you are as a human. For me trying to take care of my body is hard but I feel like I'm worth the effort, I SHOULD take care of me cause I deserve it.

Self-care also means, you have to be selfish in a good way and that's absolutely necessary and ok. Nobody should blame you for that and you also shouldn't feel bad about it. Don't even justify yourself for being selfish. You should always come first.
