Regarding bad weather in December, January, February, the temperature is about 18 - 20 degrees with frequent rain, rough seas, and strong winds. It feels cold because there's no sun, but that's also surfing. In particular, there may be a big storm coming from the Philippine Sea, but there may also not be a storm, this depends on nature!

love danang, recently spent 2 months Da Nang and Phu Loc lucky i have my best friends family in both although we ate and stayed along the beach area they took me to the family sidewalk eateries and the food and vibe is amazing, that was my 4th time in 2 years i be going back next year again. the city has 3 different vibes, , , the tourist beach area, the city riverbank area, and further north the residential area, day trip to Hoi An. although there are hundreds of hotels its not over run by tourists, from one end to the other end of the beach takes a leisurely hour . the best hotel i stayed at for a great price on the beachfront is the Nguyen Gia hotel on the northern end of the beach.
ps been to Chaing Mai twice both cities awesome but totally different and these are my favourites.

Glad to see you in Da Nang, I've been thinking about trying that out as a place to move too. What do you think of Da Nang vs. Chiang Mai (which you know is my favorite)? I really liked ho Chi minh and hanoi when I was there, but haven't been to Da Nang.
