Technical the phenomenon named as
" CRANKING "
The Cranking means
Rotating the Crankshaft Initially by means of External Torque in terms to Start an Engine in Functioning

The ALCo Locomotives used to Start by means of an External Starter motor which is Powered by the Electric Cells available in the Locomotive |
In ALCo the Alternator itself works as the Starter Motor while Cranking |
And the Very reason behind the Volcanic Smoke while Cranking of an Engine is the Rich Air Fuel Mixture |

Before Starting a Locomotive
Some Check-ups are mandatory
But Here in the Above Clip
As the Locomotive was in APU runing Condition
The Check-up list was respectively less !
But although
The necessary Preparations ware scheduled as per need |
We can here the Fuel line Priming Pup's sound clear before the Cranking Operation |
