Ricky's award-winning comedy drama Derek is back for a brand new series on Netflix. A year has gone by since we last visited Broadhill Retirement Home and there's some new residents, additions to the staff and the welcome return of a few familiar faces.

His performance in Derek took me by surprise! I would really like to see Ricky Gervais tackle more serious // emotional roles in the cinemas as he's certainly proved to be a class A actor with a broad spectrum of talent.

"I ALWAYS WISHES I SEES A CAT!"
I simply cannot express enough how I LOVED the scene in series 2 in which Derek is painting a still-life picture which rather bizarrely includes a cat, even though there is no cat in the room. The teacher points this out; Derek replies, "I always wishes I sees a cat." Priceless!!! "I always wishes I sees a cat."

Well, don't we all? Please could you post this scene for me? I do love it so and cannot number the amount of times I randomly say this Derekism to people I meet!

This show tries so hard to make you well up and feel emotional and I'm aware of that but it somehow still manages to do so.

Shame on me! Last night was the first time I watched Derek with my family. We couldn't stop watching episode after episode. We LOVED it. It's absolutely BRILLIANT!!!!

Don't get me wrong I'm a fan of the show and hope it gets another season but I hope Ricky, Steve and Karl go back to doing podcasts in the near future. They're at their funniest when they're together and being themselves.

I love that Derek goes to the zoo this season. When Ricky Gervais was asking for ideas for Season 2 last year on Twitter, I suggested Derek go to the zoo. I believe he retweeted that idea and I'd like to think he used my idea. Probably not, but one can hope. :)

I miss Douglas so much!! This season lost a great character when he quit in the first episode :(
