It was one of the most unexpected results in #Badminton at #Tokyo2020 when Indonesia's Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu beat the People's Republic of China's number four, Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan, in two sets 21-19, 21-15.

I'm Malaysian but listening to the 'Indonesia Raya' at this arena is almost touching to the very core; the spirit of the game and the national pride that goes with it. I'm also touched by the Chinese when they crossed over to congratulate their opponent and hug them as they understood how big this moment were for the Indonesian. The Chinese pair were gracious in their defeat while the Indonesians were humble in their victory. Congratulations to Indonesia, China and South Korea.

The best thing is in the interview after this win, Greysia Polii told her story when she was paired with Apriyani Rahayu. "I'm not young anymore. I wasn’t 20, so you really need to start running with me. No walking. Just run with me."
Justice had been served for Greysia. Disqualified in 2012, quarterfinal in 2016 and then losing her partner due to knee injury short after. What a roller coaster.

I'm Chinese and I'd like to congratulate the Indonesian team! The Indonesian pair played so much better in the final. Chen and Jia made too many unforced errors and they never figured out how to pass the opponent's defense line. When Polli was bawling her eyes out after the win, I was touched too. It's just so inspiring to watch a woman at her age finally got the gold medal after three Olympics. I also really liked how Chen and Jia kept the emotions at bay until the last moment when they presented the silver medals to each other. They said 'thank you for your hard work/ you've worked hard' to each other. And they both broke down when Chen Qingchen hugged Jia Yifan and said 'I'm sorry. I didn't play well today', Jia Yifan said 'It's OK' with shake voice. Watching how the doubles players support each other is simply just beautiful whether they win or lose the game.
