I am confused about how you determine the direction at the 3 minute 40 second mark. I understand that we are saying CCW is positive but how do you see the rotation as being CW? I am struggling to grasp this on multiple problems.

Shouldn't the weight of each of them be calculated by mg? like the weight of the boom would be = (1500)(9.81)
