It wasn't easy to understand the advantages of first operation initially, one with interfaces. But i think i have understood it eventually. It's a large volume of additional coding, and it's often difficult to decide for one particular piece of code, is it worth such refractoring or not. The main point of your method that in all this additional coding compiler are helping as a lot and our work is mostly automatic and can be done very fast because of this especially on huge volumes from many years of previous work. And danger of accidental mistake is very low.
I use extracting method feature of ide constantly but never from menu, always from shortcut
