I remember making full sized hot dogs into "spiders" at camp growing up in Canada. We'd slice "legs" into both ends, stick it all on a stick and cook it in the camp fire. As it cooked the legs would separate and curl a little bit.

I looked at the style guide and I've lived in Amsterdam for a while (I am Dutch but live somewhere else now) and I've never had a hot dog like that. The German ones with Sauerkraut (zuurkool in Dutch) are far more common. Except ours has a bun.

in college we would make hot dogs split into a v shape (like a hot dog bun) stuff it with mashed potatoes then top like a baked potato with cheese, bacon, chives... maybe ketchup and/or sour cream.

I've seen where people put spaghetti in the halved hot dogs. They boil them together and make an octopus that way too.

What is that rice seasoning called, please? I've been crumbling toasted seaweed to sprinkle on my rice for years. I didn't know there was a prepared mixture available!

Emmy, you should try "spaghetti inside hotdog slices" where you cut hotdogs into coin slices and then stick hard spaghetti through it and then boil.

When I was a child I used to eat the octopus looking hotdogs a lot at a chinese restaurant, only the hotdogs looked a little darker :)
