My grandpa was in the service and always wore long sleeve shirts. He was tatted up, one time I saw him moving from the shower to his room and caught that anchor on his forearm. I asked him about it and he just laughed and said, it doesn’t mean much if you’re in the navy usually but since I’m in the army me and my friends got it for our own reason. Whenever we thought we had enough, where we were at the end of our rope, were ready to drop the anchor so to speak and stop right where we were, we got this tattoo. We got it at our lowest point, because its a reminder that no matter how hard you wanna give up and stop the ship will keep going as long as you allow it. You gotta hold on to that anchor, there’s a lot of people that count on you to keep on going. And because the second you let go of that anchor you know it’s over. Anyways, just thought I’d share. I miss you grandpa. Think of you everyday

My gramps had an anchor tattoo. Fought on D-day. His assessment was accurate.

My grandfather was a ww2 vet, the only tat he had was that faded anchor, and I can vouch. He was a scary, but loving, stern man. R.i.p. pop❤

I love how the whole audience cheers at his first phrase. Like, yeah that’s us! We’re the kids who were told by teachers we were “the worst class in their experience”, so we made it our motto for life

As a 65 year old man with a faded anchor on his left forearm, I like this joke. 🙂

My grandfather had a tattoo on his shoulder that I didn't even know existed until he was 94. It was then that I was told he was a door gunner on a PBY Catalina in the Pacific in WWII and spotted submarines. In my eyes he went from a fantastic grandfather to a certified badass. RIP Barney Bear, we miss you.

“Why’d you get your tattoo?”
“Cuz I like the design.”

There’s gotta be a Caleb with a koi fish tattoo that’s said that.

When I was 19 and still lived in Stockton, I had a stray bullet from a drive-by pierce my chest just a centimeter or so away from my heart. When I got out of the hospital and after the wound healed, I immediately went to the closest parlor and had them tat me up with a hollow heart holding up two middle fingers that said "Missed me, bitch!" Right over the scar.

Yeah, I know, I was a cringy little kid. But I'm still proud of my tattoo and thankful for the second chance all the same.

My grandfather, born in 1910, had an anchor tattooed on his forearm. He wasn’t a big man, but people were smart enough to not fuck around and find out. He commanded respect just by the way he carried himself. He was a kind man, but dangerous at the same time.

I'm 35 with no tattoos. My wife has some. And she always gets complements. They look at me like, "Where are yours?"
I go, " I ain't got any. I got scars. Thems nature's tattoos."
Some people laugh. Some people get concerned, "Why do you have scars?"

My martial arts instructor is a 70-something year old man, but he scares me still, even after all this time.

My grandpa was ashamed of his Air Force tattoo. The man was a legend in my opinion. He landed fighter jets on barges in the middle of the ocean during the Korean War. I never got a tattoo but I respect that he represented his country that proudly at one time. I love art and appreciate some tattoos but I won’t put any on my body.
