The very first melodies I ever hummed were Marble Zone and Green Hill Zone, and since then Sonic music has played an integral role in shaping my musical identity. In order to reimagine the higher energy sound of the originals into a more chill style, I drew inspiration from Jamiroquai, Sade, Yuzo Koshiro, Michael Jackson, West Coast hip-hop/G-Funk, bossa nova, new jack swing, 80s/90s RnB, soul, city pop, acid & smooth jazz, disco & classic house, and 90s dance. These diverse influences coalesced into an overall sound throughout the album that could be described as “HiFi Vapor.” Sonic & Chill has truly been a passion project and it brings me great joy to present what is my tribute to the legacy of Sonic music and its composers.

Not only is this faithful to original melodies from the Sonic games, it also masterfully interpolates the rhythms, instruments, and other sounds from '90s hip-hop, dance, and R&B, but also modern vaporwave. As a connoisseur of music from the '90s, I approve of this playlist a lot. Like... Oil Ocean Zone is so reminiscent of G-funk lowrider music that I thought it was an actual Snoop Dogg song for a second.
