My last game, I spent all the battle as Mountaineer spotting enemies with binocular. At the end I scored 0 kills, but machine gunners and artillery men of my team probably loved my work.

I was digging on the rifleman, but then discovered the Mountaineer class, and fell in love. Carbine length rifles, and I have been saying for years now that this series needs some sort of spot/ping mechanic to help call attention to enemies for your team.

Isonzo is SO underrated, I'm playing thanks to GamePass and I'm addicted. Your video really highlights the depth of the game. A team that plays well to the strenght of each of their classes will really do better.

Hope this game's population will stay healthy for a long time

I love that every class has its use in this game. Riflemen bolster the specialist classes and make the backbone of the team, engineers build defensive structures or offensive weapons to slow down attackers or break apart defenses, assault units provide heavy fire support with mobile LMGs and grenades, mountaineers zip around and spot enemy movements, and marksmen provide accurate precision fire to take out any important targets.

But most important of all in my opinion is the officer. Utilizing a whistle to mark important areas for people to attack or defend or to call people back into the fight faster if they die, utilizing fire support to make holes in defenses or curb attacks, and using his class skills to help his team win the fight. A good officer can make or break an offensive and should be left in the hands of more experienced players.

Great nice concise overview of Isonzo, world war I combat roles!
The mountaineer position, helping the officer, sounds very good for me!

Just bought this game this weekend with the steam sale. This video helped me a lot, and was very precise and easy to follow.

Great video, despite learning it quite quickly in the game, it's still nice to have a thorough overview.

As for the favorite roles I play a little bit of each but generally gravitate towards the more aggressive play styles.

I disagree with officers hanging back on the battlefield, their place is in the thick of it and only phones hold me back.
But as in previous games I as an officer often initiate pushes.

The assault troop is very versatile but i enjoy two types the most, grenade spamer and lmg rush.
With three grenades and a box you can throw them nearly nonstop.
Lmg is best when you flank an enemy and strike them from a hidden position.

Mountaineer is also a lot of fun.
With binoculars and movement speed buff one can get into vantage points quickly and spy on the enemy while taking pot shots.
Or something I like to do on the map with the fort right when the mountainous part begins, it's to take a swig from the canteen and with the increased speed stealthy build a spawn point and destroy enemy's.

I think that they made all of the roles very fun with many good synergies that it's sometimes hard to choose what loadout to pick.
Although I do hope they'll add more different weapons, perhaps some older carcanos?

Concise intro, comprehensive information, and decent suggestions for how to use the class? That's a like an subscribe for me!

Do you normally cover new shooters at launch??

I really like the engineer for the Italians because 1. the T.S. is amazing and 2. the mountain gun is OP.

Personally I like playing as rifleman, following the officer around as his personal guard and making sure his flare supply stays topped up

Amazing overview, thanks! I was just searching how/where to use the periscope and what it does, you answered that and even more.

Great video! I’m excited for mountaineer class. I play Enlisted mostly. I like marking enemies in that game. I think it’s an important part of teamwork (but not many players do this). So I like the fact that this game makes it a real integral part of the game. Looking forward to trying the engineer class as well.

ish..

excellent video and analysis, in Verdun i play the officer and jump in a trench just as the mortar ends and force all my guys in with me. I hope to do the same in Isonzo lol

Cool game to play. I like it and deffinetly will be playing for a good while. It's so badass when you get alittle killstreak because you can die fast and everywhere. For me I'm a big infantry guy and run with assault and rifleman like the main go to for me. Tbh they are all effective as long as you can play there roles!!!

Rifleman is the best class in every Game.

I like all of them, but mountaineer has to take the top.
I like combining the light infantry perk with a bugle, to be able to move incredibly fast and infiltrate the enemy. I also like combining the spotter perk with the binoculars to help the team see where the enemies are.

Man, I wish some day the devs will remake both Verdun and Tannenberg with the *chonk* Isonzo brought with it. If the sales are high enough, it may even be possible...
