To find the local time in West Africa (at 20°W longitude) when a program was broadcast from Mumbai at 7:30 p.m., we need to calculate the time difference between Mumbai and West Africa.

1. Mumbai (72.8°E) to Prime Meridian (0°): Mumbai is ahead of the Prime Meridian, so we need to subtract the corresponding time difference. Since every 15 degrees of longitude corresponds to a time difference of 1 hour, Mumbai is approximately 4 hours and 51 minutes ahead of the Prime Meridian.

2. Prime Meridian (0°) to West Africa (20°W): West Africa is behind the Prime Meridian, so we need to add the corresponding time difference. Since every 15 degrees of longitude corresponds to a time difference of 1 hour, West Africa is 20°W, which is approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes behind the Prime Meridian.

Now, we add the time difference between Mumbai and the Prime Meridian to the time difference between the Prime Meridian and West Africa:

4 hours and 51 minutes (Mumbai ahead of Prime Meridian) + 1 hour and 20 minutes (West Africa behind Prime Meridian) = 6 hours and 11 minutes.

So, the local time in West Africa when the program was broadcast from Mumbai at 7:30 p.m. would be approximately 1:19 p.m. on the same day.

so to sum up the video:
calculate: time to longitude conversion

step 1) identify in question where west longitude, meridian and east longitude are compared to each other.
step 2) find the time difference = if west time is given substract the west time with the east time ( ensure all are in the standerd 24hr time not 12hr one) / if east time is given add the east time with west time.
step 3) conversion from hour to min = turn the found number in hr and min to only min.
step 4) as 4 min= 1 longitude, calculate the value of found min into longitude (ans)

calculate: longitude to time conversion

step 1) step one of the previous method.
step 2) find the time difference = if west longitude is given add the west and east longitude/ if east longitude is given substract.
step 3) multiply previously found value with 4
step 4) convert min into hour
step 5) if, the question demands the local time of the specified place then add( if the asked place is east) and substract ( if the asked place is west) the found time in step 4.

Sir, the in the first question,
The time difference is 138.75 degree and not the longitude of the place.
So, after subtracting,
138.75 - 88(From Chicago's longitude to Prime Meridian) = 50.75 degree.

Therefore, the longitude of the place shall be: 50.75 degree East.
